Rockiest Road Sundae Recipe

Rocky road ice cream is a tried and true flavor often seen on ice cream shop menus all over the country. This iconic ice cream flavor was created in 1929 by William Dreyer who placed chopped nuts, chocolate chunks, and marshmallow pieces into chocolate ice cream.

Fast forward 93 years later, True Scoops is here to shake up the ice cream industry by allowing you lovely readers to create the flavor of your dreams. So for instance, rocky road ice cream traditionally has walnuts in it, but you could swap them for almonds, peanuts, pecans, or macadamia nuts! Maybe a blend of all of them?

This sundae is a deconstructed version of the ice cream so really get creative and use a heavy hand with the toppings that make your heart skip a beat .

Pro tip: put some toppings in the dish first, like hot fudge, nuts, and marshallow so that you have a surprise at the end of your sundae!

We made our sundae with True Scoops vanilla bean ice cream, but this sundae would work with just about any flavor. The True Scoops hot fudge sauce is delightfully thick and rich in flavor, without being gluey like those jarred hot fudges you find at the store. That's because there's no corn syrup in them.

Don't want to buy marshmallow sauce? Here's an easy tip! Zap 1 cup of marshmallows and 1 tsp of water in the microwave for 30 seconds. Give it a good stir until the marshmallows dissolve into a sweet, sticky sauce. If it's too loose, add in some more marshmallows. Too thick? Add a 1/4 tsp of water at a time and stir.

Grab your gold spoons, this sundae will give you all the feels!
